Morning Sunrise
By Grace

Chapter One:

I watched as a bay Morgan and a roan black horse walked in circles around the outside of the arena.  The riders never tried to make the horses gallop or run.  They let the horses walk.  I walked to them.

"Would you like to ride?" the riders asked me.

"Yes," I answered.  A man got off his horse and let me mount.  I jumped on and walked the horse away from where the men where standing.  Gradually, we went to a run and then a gallop. The bay shook his head and kept on running.  I had him run toward the back yard behind the barn.

He was running by the barn when... I saw a horse tied to a pole.  He was a pale, pale brown - lighter than my horse, Promise Kept's color.  He was beautiful.  I slowed the bay I was riding to a walk, jumped off and walked toward the horse.  I untied him from the pole and jumped on.  He ran beautifully.  I slowed him down when I got to the riders.

"What's his name?" I asked.

"The Bay or the horse you are on?" asked the man.

"The horse I'm on," I answered.

"The horse you are on is named Sunrise," the men answered.

I rode Sunrise to the bay, grabbed his mane and walked him to his owners.

"Thank you," said the men.

"Can I ride Sunrise?" I asked.

"Yes" said the men and then took the bay and the roan to be fed.  I galloped the horse.  He ran, then reared.  I calmed him by rubbing him under his mane.  He ran on.  He came to a jump for hunters.  He jumped it.  I had him run, then jump the barn's back yard gate.  He made it.  Judging by the way he took the jump, I thought that he must be a horse for hunting and jumping.  Sunrise ran, then reared again...
