Lily of the Valley

Chapter One:

I watched as a horse kicked in his stall.  The stalls at 'The Yellow Rose of Texas' are just metal poles that form a box around the horses.  There's a wooden roof to keep the horses out of the rain.  The horse jumped over the the stall door and began running in the 'yard' where the owners ride.  I watched the horse begin to canter, then gallop again.  He seemed to want to run out of the sandy pasture.  He seemed to leap in his stride while running - leaping in sprints.  He ran to the corner of the pasture and reared.  He was a beautiful paint stallion...

I woke up, and found myself laying in my bed.  I got into some light blue jeans and a blouse.  I walked to the living room and began to do latch hook.  I think better when I do latch hook sewing.  The 'Yellow Rose of Texas' in my dream is a real stable.  The horses always seem to be bored there, and I noticed that the owners never have the horses run.  It's like if they let them run in the pasture, they'd be setting the horses free.  The owners always pull on the bits, yet the horses keep running and jump the jumps...

"Ouch!" I cried.  The pick that knots the yarn for you had poked me in the lip.  I'd leaned forward to lead my horse onward so he could run... be free... I was dreaming again!  I ran to the kitchen counter and grabbed a napkin to hold on my scratched lip.  I ran outside and picked up my calico cat, Jamie.   My other cat, Doogie had run away, because I was only playing with Jamie.  I went back to the table and began to latch hook some more.

To be continued...
